I haven't been doing much online lately. As a matter of fact I have been kind of depressed. I guess because that is what happens now in the Breast Cancer cycle. So I have been taking my time and working on this little doll. I haven't named her yet but she is gift for someone dear at Christmas time. I've learned a lot while making her. Both about sculpting a baby and about life. Still waiting for the bone scan results to come back and just taking easy during this stressful time of year.

October. It has not been my most favorite month. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. That is good. It has been a year since I was diagnosed. Don't forget to do your own self exam. That's how I found mine. Stage 3.
October is Halloween...as well...There are lots of scary things to buy out there and also on ebay. Decorate your house or yard and get in the spirit of is spookey holiday.
Lastly, I had my gall bladder removed yesterday. I am not in any pain yet. Looking forward to what I can and cannot eat. I haven't eaten at since Sunday at 10:00 pm.

Where have I been and what have I been doing?
First, I have been recovering from the cancer and it's treatment. Second, my mother was very ill and in need my attention.
I am rather confused by the new economy and where I fit into it, as many of you may be.
I am just realizing that I had cancer for a year. Wow. Cancer. I just went through it and now it registers. I don't know what that's about.
I want to continue with my doll network but it seems to have slowed down so much that it is not profitable any longer. Is it me? Should I be offering more? Should I teaching somewhere else? Should I be teaching at all? Dissappointed by students who decided to take what they learned from me and teach it themselves, calling it their own. Selling the dolls they learned from and not giving me credit for the design. Charging alot more than I do for the classes I might add. Is that how it is supposed to work? I'm not sure.
So today I say...I have beaten cancer and I have offered what I have to offer and still I feel no sense of accomplishment. I am standing here wondering what to do next. I will figure it out. Til next time.....

It has been so long since I've posted. First it was the computer and still is. Can you believe it...7 weeks at GEEK squad? They lost my hard drive but now they say they have and I still don't. Anyway...then my mom got ill. Still is but we are taking good care of her and hoping that even her time here is not very long it will be quality time. She will be coming home to hospice on Saturday.
Now onto to what I've been doing in the art field.... here is the doll I posted today on ebay. This took me a long time to finish because of life. Enjoy!

Boy my life was on that computer. I guess I've learned a lesson. Back it up. It is now in Chicago visiting a lab to see if it is fixable. Boy I sure hope so. Say a little prayer for that computer please. I am working on new classes for my network and new dolls to sell on ebay. I'm almost done with radiation. Yeah. Two more days. I really hurt. Some one asked me about chemo the other day and you know what? I couldn't remember it. I could not remember the pain or the side effects. I have to really think about it to bring it to my mind. Isn't that strange? It seems so far away now. I don't know why but it is a thing of the past. Maybe that's good. I can't dwell on something I can't recall.

When the radiation is over I will begin to heal from this whole ordeal. I am so looking forward to this. I want to be able to do more and not get so tired. I want to remember things again. I want to be able to clean my house in one day instead of bits and pieces. I want to do some yard work and not hurt from it. I want to be able to have open arms when I see one of my grand kids running toward me and not cringe hoping they don't touch me where it hurts. I want to be able to have my life back. It won't be long now. Have a happy day and enjoy your health!

Well folks, I'm getting burned up a little here.The radiation is beginning to make me sore. I am indeed burning up. Sorry I've been missing in action but I am trying to get my junk cleared out. I believe there is a direct correlation between junk and sickness. I am having a sale soon and I am hoping that will not only bring in some money but help in the healing. Sounds weird? I'll tell you more later.

Another week of radiation to look forward to. Sorry I don't mean to complain but it's starting to hurt my skin now. I am still tired but more in spries now. I have days that I can barely do anything and then a break that lets me catch up a little. I scrubbed floors today. It felt so good.
I have really just been taking it as it comes.

Above is a fairy sprite I made this week end. Hope you like her. I'm trying to focus on doing better and being more precise. It is a good time to do it when I almost have to. So much for my frantic serenity.

Ready for Radiation?

Next week I begin the journey of radiation. 35 days straight with weekends off. Kind of like a job. What I hated the most about the cancer was the chemicals. I quit smoking about 25 years ago and since then the most harmful thing I have done to myself is to worry and eat sugar. Which by the way, I am working on even now. During the cancer I had practically no sugar but every once in a while now I crave it and have some. So radiation...I have the information they gave me to make me aware of side effects. I know that everyone is different and unique and everyone handles things in their own way. I think what bothers me is possible real bad side effects. I don't mind be tired. I can sleep when I want. I am not working so other than raising my little grandson, I can take naps. And besides, my health has been a top priority for the last 7 months. So tomorrow I start the last step of this journey and after 35 treatments I will be done. Continue to pray for as I am still on the journey.

I had my surgery. I had my port removed. That's a good sign.
Means no more chemo. That means no cancer.

Another Painting on Ebay

Here's a little painting I finished today and listed her on ebay.

I went to the surgeon today and I am done with that part except to go to
therapy for the arm. After about a week I will start radiation. They are saying 35 treatments at 5 times a week. That's like a job! This whole thing has been quite an experience.
There have been bad times and not quite so bad times.
All in all though, I am a happy person today.

Thanks to all. Thank you each and everyone who sent me the healing and prayers. Thanks you to all who have kept me in the light and to everyone who cared enough about a person
you never even met to take time to send me cards and gifts and flowers etc.
Thank you so much. I was never alone through this. You all kept me going.

I went to the surgeon today and the cancer went from a 2.5 cm tumor to a 1.7 cm tumor. I did not have to have a mastectomy like they thought. I only had a lumpectomy. Yeah! They think they got it all. Of course they are never sure of the microscopic stuff. Out of the 7 lymph node they removed only one was cancerous. The doctor was so surprised. I don't think she realized that she had experienced a miracle. I am still waiting for the results from the CT scan. Anyway, I'm still tired. I haven't driven yet but probably will real soon. All I want to do is make up for lost time. I must take is easy for a while though. Thanks for all the healing energy, thoughts, and prayers.

This year is different to say the least. Read on and you will find that I have been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I am almost finished with the 8 treatments of dose dense chemo. That will take it out of you for sure. Next I will have the surgery and then radiation.

New Post

I am slowly coming back to life. Of course it is time for another visit to the oncologist. Not really I guess, I need to be thankful for every minute that I feel good.

I've decided to sell some of art here and see how that works. So today I will list a doll that I created from polymer clay and cloth. She is hand painted and finished with a crackle glaze. She about 20 inches tall and I've used vintage fabric for her dress. If you are interested just email me at nancyebydesign@yahoo.com for cost and shipping. Yes, she can be there for Christmas.

Here are pictures of a baby that I made for my chemo nurse who will be leaving on maternity leave soon. I think I will see her tomorrow and then get a new nurse for my other treatments. I will miss her. She is so caring and supportive.

This baby is about 3 inches long and has brown mohair for hair. She is sculpted from Pro Sculpt. She is laying in a small pile of tinsel on a soft pink handmade pillow.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving as I had chemo today and who knows what's will happen in the next few days.

So have a Happy, Safe and Thankful weekend. Hug the ones you love and tell them. Remember...it's all small stuff.

Oops...my hair fell out early. This was not suppose to happen yet but on Saturday night my hair started falling out my the handfuls. It was real messy so my daughter came over with the clippers and now it is gone! How humbling is this?

I went to the oncologist today and my numbers are good, my weight is good, and the lump is still the same. Yeah! I will have the second round of chemo on Tuesday. This time I will have a different anti nausea drug. Yeah! My spirits are high. I still have my hair but it should be gone by next Friday. Hummm should I show you a bald head? We'll see. It depends on what it looks like. I have had so many nice and wonderful, caring people write me, send me cards and just stop by with their concerns. Thank you to everyone. I feel more positive now after the first go round.

One week later...

It's been a week since chemo. This was not fun! The first day I was tired. The second I was terribly sick. The third day I was sick and tired. By day four I was able to keep food down. I'm still tired and weak. All I want to do is sleep and lay down. My mouth is dry and sore and the port hurts my chest. by the time I feel good again it will be time to start all over.
Other than that I'm still kickin!
I'm so glad I finished my rooms before the treatment started.

Wow... what a ride this is.

This is going to be quite a ride. It has been so far. This week, it going to be every short for me because I am so busy doing everything I need to do while I still can. I went to chemo class yesterday and it all sound pretty scary to me right now so I try to forget about it and take it one day at a time. Today I have two more tests to do at the hospital. Then I need to finish redecorating two rooms because I have a small surgery to insert a port cath on Thursday and then chemo on Friday. I will post pictures of my two finished rooms if I get them done. One is for my grandson and the other is a guest room in case I need one. Right now they are a real mess because I thought I had all the time in the world to do them. The chemo will take about six months and then surgery and radiation. At least that is the plan now. Again, good at denial, I'll take it a day at a time. Well off the hospital to do the tests. Until next time....peace!

Nancye, I do not wish you luck, rather Shalom...The noun shalom means safe, for example, well and happy. On a more abstract application, its use points to welfare, for example, health, prosperity, and, peace. It the verb form shalam, though, that provides a deeper understanding of this term in theology, doctrine, and liturgy. Literally translated, shalam signals to a state of safety, but figuratively it points to completeness. In its use in Scripture, shalom describes the actions that lead to a state of soundness, or better yet wholeness. So to say, shalom seems not to merely speak of a state of affairs, but describes a process, an activity, a movement towards fullness. It's been awhile since I've posted...

It all started about a week ago when I went to the doctor for a mammogram and check up.
There's a lump and I knew that. Right away an appointment was made for a diagnostic. After 16 mammograms of the left side, an ultrasound was done. (This is the same morning)
Then a biopsy in two spots.
Now go home and wait for 24 hours to get the results.
Friday while I had my mother at the oncologist my phone rang with the results.
Sorry... it is Cancer.
My next appointment was Monday, yesterday, with the surgeon. She does not want to remove the lump or the lymph node but rather orders a full body nuclear bone scan, an MRI, and a full body CT scan.
The chemo starts Friday or Monday.
I'm spinning.
Stage 3 breast cancer.
I've got too much to do.
I've still got small grandkids to raise.
I will get the results of the tests when I see the Oncologist.
